Build the Project's Budget

Build your organization's budget to track your actual spend against your budget in real time. A clear budget in Mazlo helps align your financial planning with you sponsor’s chart of accounts.

Introduction

With Mazlo, you can create and submit your budget using the fiscal sponsor's accounting codes. Once approved, your actual spend is tracked automatically, giving you ongoing insight into your financial activity.


Steps to Build and Submit Your Budget

Step 1: Navigate to the Budget Tab in the Accounting Settings

Go to Settings > Accounting > Budget and click Create Budget.

Step 2: Select the Budget Year

Confirm or update the correct fiscal year.

Step 3: Set Budgeted Amounts

Enter a maximum (required) and optional minimum for each accounting code.

Need Help with Codes? If you’re unsure which accounting code aligns with your budget line items, contact your fiscal sponsor for guidance.

Step 4: Save and Submit

Click Save, then Submit to send your budget for review.

Step 5: Post-Approval Tracking

Once your budget has been approved approved, you’ll be able to track the actual spend as you tag transactions with accounting codes.
